Former University of Cincinnati basketball standout Jacob Evans III was selected by league champion Golden State in the first round of the NBA Draft on Thursday night, with Evans becoming the Bearcats' first first-round pick since 2005.
Evans was taken No. 28 overall by the Warriors, the third-last pick of the first round. Evans will join Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and friends as Golden State chases a third consecutive NBA title next season.
Evans had been projected as a late first-rounder or early second-round choice in various mock drafts.
Evans, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound guard/forward, was the first UC player drafted since Lance Stephenson, who went to the Indiana Pacers in the second round (40th overall) in 2010.
