The University of Cincinnati will look to replace one Australian punter with another as they received a commitment from Mason Fletcher, a 19-year-old 6-foot-6 rugby-style kicker, on Thursday.
Fletcher had spent three seasons with the Calder Cannons of the Aussie Rules Football League where his father still plays at age 40.
Fletcher followed the same path current punter James Smith did by signing with ProKick Australia. Smith has averaged 43.5 yards per punt and has been a Ray Guy Award finalist. That pipeline led head coach Luke Fickell and special teams coach Brian Mason to Fletcher.
