MEMPHIS – During postgame comments, coach John Brannen repeatedly and unprompted mentioned one of Cincinnati basketball's flaws in Thursday's 60-49 loss at No. 22 Memphis.
"We went on our run and the bottomline is we had to go to our bench," Brannen said. "When we went to our bench, they went on their run again."
The Bearcats (10-7, 3-2) reserves failed to score until Jaevin Cumberland's meaningless 3-pointer in the waning seconds, creating an obvious angle for improvement Sunday against East Carolina (8-9, 2-2) at Fifth Third Arena.
At Memphis, with little production coming from the bench, Brannen played four starters — Jarron Cumberland, Trevon Scott, Chris Vogt and Keith Williams — 32 minutes or more.
