Cincinnati basketball picked up the first signature win of the John Brannen era Wednesday at Fifth Third Arena.
The Bearcats upset No. 21 Tennessee 78-66 to earn Brannen's first victory against a ranked opponent, helped by senior Trevon Scott's game-high 15 points and seven rebounds and a timely shot by star Jarron Cumberland late in the going.
"We needed it in the worst way, honestly," Scott said. "Just to let everyone know we are a great team. We're not at our peak yet. If we can just keep going and getting better we can win like this on a consistent basis.
