SACRAMENTO – For 20 minutes, the Cincinnati Bearcats played slowball and put UCLA to sleep. Then came the final 20 minutes, and UC was swept away by the almighty Bruins offensive machine.
The underdog Bearcats lost 79-67 to the Bruins in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 at Golden 1 Center, before a crowd of 16,744 here Sunday night.
Underdog UC played a deliberate pace and led 33-30 at halftime over the Bruins, who were leading the nation in scoring at 90.6 points per game. UC could not have asked for more in the first half, but then the Bruins came out running after halftime.
