CINCINNATI - The first step to a big baseball win if you're a pitcher is taking the ball. Though far from a Latin expert, Nathan Kroger has embraced the phrase "carpe diem" as well as anyone the last two seasons.
The University of Cincinnati baseball season began Feb. 17. Prior to March 21, Milford High School graduate Nathan Kroger had thrown just one inning. On the back end of a doubleheader loss to Tennessee March 11, Kroger threw the final frame of a 6-2 loss coaxing three Volunteer groundouts.
Bearcats coach Ty Neal apparently saw enough there to give Kroger another run on the bump at Marge Schott Stadium.
