NEWARK, N.J. - This was not your ordinary loss to the nation's No. 5-ranked team, as it was a basketball game that the No. 17 Cincinnati Bearcats well could have won.
UC lost 66-60 to Florida here Saturday night in the Never Forget Tribute Classic (before 9,112 fans at the Prudential Center), as the Bearcats hurt their cause immensely by making 21 turnovers. Florida had 15 turnovers itself, but the Gators won it largely because of a 27-17 edge in points off of turnovers.
UC (7-2) lost its second straight game. Florida (6-3) had been reeling with three straight losses, and UC missed a chance to take one from the wounded Gators.
