As it turns out, Troy Caupain and Kevin Johnson are being missed by the University of Cincinnati basketball team more than some anticipated.
While the Bearcats (11-2) are ranked 20th nationally as they enter Christmas break, a primary takeaway by coach Mick Cronin is that his guards are still learning the ropes. That was not the case last year, when then-seniors Caupain (point guard) and Johnson (shooting guard) were veteran anchors as UC went 30-6 and reached its seventh straight NCAA Tournament.
Caupain was the cerebral leader, the UC career assists leader (515) and the only man in UC history with more than 1,300 points (1,317) and 500 assists.
