Zack Collins among first White Sox spring training cuts

White Sox catcher Zack Collins was among the first group of spring training roster cuts Friday at Camelback Ranch.

The Sox reassigned Collins, right-hander Spencer Adams, outfielder Courtney Hawkins and left-handers David Holmberg and Brian Clark to minor-league camp.

Collins was selected 10th overall in the 2016 draft and took on his first big-league camp less than a year removed from college.

He played in seven Cactus League games and was 3-for-8 with a double, an RBI, two walks, three strikeouts and two stolen bases.

The Sox have 54 players left in camp – 29 pitchers, five catchers, 12 infielders and eight outfielders.
