With a hitter having just a split-second to react to a pitched ball, that movement proved detrimental to Garcia’s development.
“When they threw me a fastball at 90 mph, I would miss it because I was leaning too far ahead and I was jumping,” Garcia said. “You can’t hit like that, so I made the adjustments. When you have more time, you can see the ball better and stay behind it.
