Yolmer Sanchez 'worked his rear end off' to earn place with White Sox

Once upon a time, it would have been easy for some to write off Yolmer Sanchez.

He wasn’t an instant star upon his arrival in 2014. He wasn’t Yoan Moncada, the anointed one, the future.

And if Moncada made it impossible to stick at second base, certainly Matt Davidson or someone else, someone bigger than 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds with a bigger bat, would shoo him along.

But that hasn’t happened.

At first blush, some of the third baseman’s numbers this season are no great shakes, such as his .258 batting average entering Wednesday night’s play.
