It was probably going through the minds of just about everyone watching Monday’s waterlogged game between the White Sox and Royals: Why the heck are they playing this game?
The rains poured down on the South Side, soaking Guaranteed Rate Field while the two teams tried to play baseball a couple times on Memorial Day. Trying to squeeze in an official game on the holiday afternoon, baseball went on through a downpour. After sitting around for three hours waiting for a window, they tried again. Action lasted all of five minutes before they had to stop it again, with it raining harder than ever.
