Welington Castillo’s return to the lineup is the good news for the White Sox on Saturday night. They’ll face the Twins without Yoan Moncada, placing the leadoff man on the disabled list to allow his strained hamstring to fully heal.
Manager Ricky Renteria is optimistic that Moncada will require only a short stay on the disabled list. But he won’t be in uniform when the White Sox go to Wrigley Field to face the Cubs next weekend.
Jose Rondon was promoted from Triple-A Charlotte to replace Moncada. Renteria indicated that Rondon could be used at shortstop and third base in addition to second while with the White Sox.
