The White Sox made three roster moves before Tuesday’s game against the Indians at Guaranteed Rate Field, including calling up left-handed reliever Jace Fry from Double-A Birmingham for what will be his major-league debut.
Fry joins a Sox bullpen short a left-hander after the Sox requested waivers for the unconditional release of veteran Derek Holland.
With the arrival of prospects Reynaldo Lopez and Lucas Giolito last month, the Sox had moved Holland to the bullpen. His release ends a rough season in which he posted a 6.20 ERA after signing a one-year, $6 million deal with the Sox in the offseason.
