It was probably just a coincidence that a Cubs employee told me it was OK to ride in a broken elevator Thursday night at the grand re-opening of the Wrigley Field bleachers.
"It was stuck a while ago, but it's fixed now," he said.
By the time the door opened at the bottom of the bleachers, a security guard pointed to the handmade sign reading "Out of Order" affixed to the elevator door with two "Let's Go" stickers — a perfect Cubs' conundrum.
Fortunately, I was the last one to ride the elevator and did not plunge to the bottom to become the first bleacher renovation casualty.
