General manager Rick Hahn believes the White Sox could be in for a "special summer" after their quick start to the season, and so the club cut loose one piece they didn't think was contributing to that goal.
The Sox announced Tuesday they plan to designate for assignment left-hander John Danks on Thursday, ending a 10-year tenure with the Sox that didn't live up to expectations after his shoulder surgery in August of 2012.
Hahn said Danks does not want to pitch in the Sox minor-league system, and the club doesn't think either party would benefit from his move to the bullpen, so Danks will leave the franchise with a 79-104 career record, a 4.
