Herm Schneider, who supervised the comebacks of Bo Jackson and Robin Ventura from career-threatening injuries during his 40 seasons with the White Sox, will become the team’s head athletic trainer emeritus.
In his new duties, Schneider will continue to serve as an adviser to the baseball operations department on medical issues relating to free agency, the amateur draft and player acquisition and continue to assist the training departments at the major- and minor-league levels.
In addition to the comebacks of Jackson and Ventura, Schneider, 66, supervised the rehabilitation program of shortstop Ozzie Guillen (knee), worked with Michael Jordan on his transition from basketball to baseball and responded to life-threatening situations involving Greg Walker in 1988 and Danny Farquhar in 2018.
