Robin Ventura will return to manage the White Sox in 2016 despite leading the club to three straight losing seasons in his four-year managerial career.
Sox general manager Rick Hahn confirmed Ventura’s return during a meeting with the media Friday afternoon in the press box at U.S. Cellular Field.
The Sox fired bench coach Mark Parent on Thursday night and also announced Friday that assistant hitting coach Harold Baines, at his own request, will move into an ambassador role with the team. The Sox will search to hire two coaches to fill their roles.
“If we didn’t feel as an organization that Robin had the ability to be a championship caliber manager, he wouldn’t be here,” Hahn said.
