On Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox cut 11 players from big-league camp:
- Catcher Seby Zavala (Triple-A Charlotte)
- RHRP Zack Burdi, LHSP Bernardo Flores Jr. and OFs Micker Adolfo, Luis Basabe and Blake Rutherford (Double-A Birmingham)
- RHRPs Tayron Guerrero and Bryan Mitchell, LHRPs Caleb Frare and Kodi Medeiros, and LHSP Matt Tomshaw (unassigned minor-league camp)
No huge surprises. Burdi pitched well but needs a bit of coddling before his shot at the bigs, given a rough recent patch of injury. Zavala got off like gangbusters in camp but simply wasn’t getting any catcher reps in games.
