The Chicago White Sox transferred infielder/outfielder Leury Garcia to the 45-day injured list Saturday with a sprained left thumb.
He is 16-for-59 (.271) with one double, three home runs, eight RBIs and six runs in 16 games this season, making nine starts at shortstop, five at second and one in right field.
They placed pitcher Ian Hamilton on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Wednesday) with right shoulder soreness, purchased the contract of infielder Cheslor Cuthbert from the Schaumburg training facility and recalled pitcher Bernardo Flores from Schaumburg. Flores will serve as the 29th man for Saturday’s doubleheader.
