White Sox to Retire Mark Buehrle’s No. 56 Jersey This Season

The Chicago White Sox will honor another member of the 2005 World Series team when they retire the jersey number of former pitcher Mark Buehrle on June 24. Buehrle’s no. 56 will be retired in a special ceremony before the Sox take on the Oakland Athletics at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Buehrle was one of the better starting pitchers for the Sox when he was with the team, and ranks sixth all-time in wins for the South Siders at 161. The former ace of the Sox pitched 12 seasons on the south side (2000-2011) and compiled a 161-119 record to go along with a 3.
