KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Traffic slowed on I-70 out beyond the outfield at Kauffman Stadium probably because it was getting to be that time of day and the afternoon commute was causing some congestion.
But it’s also possible that motorists were slowing down to gawk at the home-run balls flying out of The K off the bats of the visitors.
Surely there was gawking hundreds of miles to the northeast, back on the South Side, where fans told to expect a season of rebuilding, development and, to be blunt, losing were most likely looking around with a “who the heck are these guys?
