The White Sox offense again was without a Trayce Friday night when it faced the Mariners at U.S. Cellular Field.
Trayce Thompson is off to an auspicious start but the rookie remains in the platoon and developmental stage for manager Robin Ventura.
The right-handed hitting outfielder has 14 hits in his first 27 at-bats. Against left-handed pitching, he is 12-20 (.600) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and six RBIs.
But the Mariners started right-hander Taijuan Walker Friday night so Thompson was out of starting lineup.
Asked about playing Thompson full time, Ventura said:
"We're near that, but (we) like what he's doing.
