Ivan Nova makes his Cactus League debut Friday afternoon in Surprise, Ariz., as the White Sox play a road game against the Rangers.
The Sox acquired Nova, 32, from the Pirates in December in a salary dump and could deal him for prospects by the July 31 trade deadline if he performs well. He was happy in Pittsburgh and surprised when they sent him to the Sox.
“To be honest, yeah,” Nova said. “You never think about being traded, especially after 2½ years and after you create relationships with guys.
