Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson knocked in a key insurance run with a double in the eighth inning of Monday’s 3-1 win against the Minnesota Twins.
The Twins had runners on first and second with two outs in the sixth and the score tied at 1. Josh Donaldson hit a grounder up the middle, and Anderson ranged to his left and fielded the ball in shallow center field.
Although there wasn’t a play at first, the fact he made the play meant Jake Cave could advance only to third instead of scoring the go-ahead run.
“The work is showing,” he said.
