The White Sox delivered on their message that they are taking it slow with their young players this season, sending their top five prospects to minor-league camp Tuesday afternoon at Camelback Ranch.
The Sox optioned top prospect Yoan Moncada, No. 2 Lucas Giolito, No. 4 Reynaldo Lopez and No. 5 Carson Fulmer to Triple-A Charlotte, and they reassigned No. 3 Michael Kopech to minor-league camp.
Sox general manager Rick Hahn has said since January he expected all of their new prospects to start the year in the minors so that they can continue their development, and that didn’t change despite some very successful showings at big-league spring training this year.
