White Sox Select Adam Hackenberg in the 18th round (545th overall)

The White Sox tabbed Clemson catcher Adam Hackenberg as their 18th round selection, and the second catcher they selected on Day 3. They also took Colby Smelley in the 13th round.

This is the second time the 6’1” and 225-pound right-handed catcher has been drafted. The Kansas City Royals selected him in the 39th round of the 2018 MLB Draft, but he opted to honor his commitment to Clemson.

After playing sparingly his first season and the 2020 season being wiped away due to COVID-19, the redshirt-sophomore saw his biggest role behind the plate this year.
