White Sox manager Robin Ventura could tell second baseman Brett Lawrie was feeling better over the last few days as Lawrie began to recover his energetic personality.
Lawrie started a rehab assignment at Double-A Birmingham on Saturday, his first game since straining his left hamstring on July 22, and Ventura said he's happy the Sox could regain his services soon.
"As bottled up as he has been not being able to play, it's nice for him to get a few at-bats," Ventura said.
Lawrie is one of 10 Sox players on the 15- and 60-day disabled lists, leaving the Sox to count on a handful of younger players, including Tyler Saladino and Carlos Sanchez at second.
