The White Sox rotation took another hit Friday when left-hander Manny Banuelos was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Wednesday, with a strained left shoulder.
Banuelos, 28, left in the fifth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Indians after experiencing shoulder soreness. He’s 2-3 with a 7.26 ERA in nine appearances (five starts) and has 32 strikeouts in 31 innings.
The Sox recalled right-hander Jose Ruiz from Triple-A Charlotte.
Ruiz, 24, has a 5.40 ERA in 11 relief appearances covering 10 innings with the Sox this season. He appeared in three games with the Knights after getting optioned May 5, recording two saves and striking out five in four scoreless innings.
