White Sox rookie Micah Johnson to have knee surgery

Micah Johnson is headed for arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday.

The White Sox rookie is headed for the operating table several days after he had his left knee examined, manager Robin Ventura said on Wednesday. Johnson, who hasn’t played since Sept. 21, hit .230/.306/.270 in 114 plate appearances this season.

Ventura doesn’t know a timetable for when Johnson could resume baseball activity this offseason.

“They got in there and looked at it,” Ventura said. “I know they're going to go in and clean it up and get it fixed.
