Mazara had one hit in six career at-bats against Rogers before the two lefties squared off in the ninth inning Monday at Target Field in Minneapolis.
The Chicago White Sox had a one-run lead, two on and two outs. Mazara brought home both runners with a single to right, giving the Sox some breathing room in an 8-5 victory.
“I was just trying to stay through the middle because he’s one of the lefties they have with three kinds of sliders,” Mazara said. “He had a big one, showed me one that looked like a cutter and another one that is really, really hard.
