White Sox recall outfielder Adam Engel from Charlotte

The White Sox recalled outfielder Adam Engel from Triple-A Charlotte before Tuesday’s series opener against the Twins at Target Field.

Engel takes the roster spot of Leury Garcia, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained finger on his left hand on Monday.

Engel made his major-league debut on May 27 and played in eight games for the Sox before he was sent back to Charlotte earlier this month. He was 6-for-20 with three runs scored and four stolen bases.

Engel is hitting .218 with 12 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 19 RBIs and 20 runs scored over 46 games with Charlotte this season.
