There are players with baseball bloodlines, and then there’s White Sox prospect Jacob May.
He is the nephew of former White Sox outfielder Carlos May and grandson of longtime Reds outfielder Lee May. Those two combined for 28 years in the majors, and fittingly Jacob was drafted by the Reds out of high school before deciding to attend Coastal Carolina University, from where the White Sox took him with a third-round pick in 2013.
May, 24-year-old true center fielder with double-plus speed, hit .266/.309/.352 in 83 games at Triple-A in 2016, and now finds himself in the mix for major league playing time as the White Sox begin a youth movement without an incumbent starter in.
