INDIANAPOLIS — By the numbers, Lucas Giolito’s 2017 has been a mess.
“I mean, the numbers are atrocious,” Giolito said Monday.
Giolito has a 7.31 ERA and a 13.4 percent walk rate in 28 1/3 innings spread out over six starts. Those statistics mirror Giolito’s rough major league debut with Washington last year. Giolito isn’t being included in conversations about imminent major league promotions anymore and his top 10 prospect position feels like a relic of the past.
But for the White Sox, the situation has been clear since their first look at Giolito in spring training.
