Eloy Jimenez is lobbying White Sox manager Rick Renteria to put him in the lineup Saturday for the televised game against the Cubs at Sloan Park.
Jimenez, the team’s top prospect, has been out since the first weekend of spring training games with left knee tendinitis.
“I think I can play Saturday,” Jimenez said. “I’m talking to Ricky and saying ‘I’m ready to play.’ He said, ‘OK.”
Renteria said he’s still not sure whether or not Jimenez will play, which will be a Sox telecast on WGN-Ch. 9.
“Yeah, you heard him asking to play as soon as he possibly can,” Renteria said.
