The White Sox are building a young bullpen after trading Joakim Soria to the Brewers on Thursday. Not only did they promote Thyago Vieira, 25, on Friday to replace Soria, but they also added Tyler Danish, 24, in place of Chris Volstad, whom they designated for assignment.
Volstad, like Soria, was signed as a minor-league free agent last winter. He had finished 2017 with the Sox and this season went 1-5 with a 6.27 ERA in 33 appearances out of the bullpen. His major contribution came in working 47 1/3 innings.
