While most of the White Sox players had some fun choosing their nicknames for the weekend, a few did not.
Players’ Weekend debuted in 2017. Some fans scoffed at the idea (especially Yankees fans who didn’t like the idea of nicknames on the backs of jerseys), but after all was said and done, it was a success. This season, the weekend takes place August 24-26, according to MLB.com.
Players’ Weekend gives players the opportunity to reflect on why they love the game of baseball. They get to show their personalities. They get to pick the nickname on the backs of their jerseys.
