White Sox place reliever Zach Putnam on DL, call up Chris Beck

One day after he walked the bases loaded in the ninth inning against the Red Sox. White Sox reliever Zach Putnam went on the 15-day disabled list with ulnar neuritis in his right elbow.

The Sox recalled right-hander Chris Beck from Triple-A Charlotte, his first call-up since his lone major-league appearance on May 28, 2015, for a doubleheader in Baltimore.

Beck gave up four earned runs in six innings for the loss in that game and not long after had ulnar nerve transposition surgery on his right arm.

He has recovered to go 4-3 with a 4.
