The Chicago White Sox announced on Sunday that Miguel Gonzalez was placed on the 10-day Disabled List with A/C joint inflammation. The move is retroactive to June 15. With the move, the White Sox also reactivated James Shields from the disabled list.
Gonzalez has been struggling lately in his second season with the White Sox. This season, Gonzalez is 4-8 with a 5.49 ERA. The White Sox starting rotation hasn’t been strong in 2017 as they’ve dealt with injuries to Shields, Carlos Rodon and now Gonzalez.
With the return of Shields on Sunday, the Sox hope the veteran pitcher can eat innings as the bullpen has been overworked this season.
