The Chicago White Sox placed starter Dallas Keuchel on the 10-day injured list Thursday with back spasms and recalled pitcher Reynaldo Lopez from the Schaumburg training facility.
Keuchel pitched five shutout innings Sunday against the Kansas City Royals, but left before the start of the sixth with lower back stiffness. He fielded a grounder back to the mound for the final out of the fifth inning and said he knew at that point something wasn’t right with his back.
Keuchel has been among the best pitchers in the American League during his first season with the Sox.
