White Sox pitching prospect Dane Dunning will six to eight weeks with an elbow sprain, according to a team statement.
Dunning, a right-hander with Double-A Birmingham, was examined Wednesday by team physician Dr. Nik Verma, and an MRI revealed a moderate sprain.
Dunning was placed on the disabled list and will face a schedule of rest and rehab the next month and a half to two months, followed by a throwing program.
He left his start Saturday against the Montgomery Biscuits after 3 2/3 innings.
Dunning, who was acquired in the Adam Eaton trade with the Nationals, has a 2.
