Charlie Tilson walked into the White Sox clubhouse Tuesday morning, which was good news.
The bad news: His aching right foot was resting in a boot and a crutch rested under each of his arms.
The White Sox outfielder will start the season on the disabled list thanks to a stress reaction in his right foot, a direct result of rehabbing the left hamstring he tore in his big league debut last season.
Tilson is barred from weight-bearing activities for at least three weeks, though an MRI done on the foot Monday did not reveal a fracture.
