The Chicago White Sox optioned outfielder Nicky Delmonico to the Schaumburg training facility and officially placed second baseman Nick Madrigal on the 10-day injured list with a separated left shoulder Thursday as they trimmed their active roster from 30 to the Major League Baseball-mandated 28 players.
Madrigal suffered the injury while sliding feet-first into third base in the third inning of Tuesday’s game against the Brewers in Milwaukee. The move to the injured list is retroactive to Wednesday. Madrigal is batting .294 (5-for-17) with one RBI and two runs in five games.
