The White Sox optioned right-handed starter Miguel Gonzalez to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday afternoon and called up right-handed reliever Daniel Webb to take his roster spot.
Gonzalez was called up Monday to make his Sox debut in a start against the Blue Jays, and he allowed five earned runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings. Sox manager Robin Ventura left it up in the air after the game whether Gonzalez would make another start.
The Sox have kept 13 pitchers on the roster since April 19 while they are in the midst of a stretch of 19 straight games without an off day.
