Carlos Rodon will be the first to admit he has had a shaky second season in the major leagues, but the White Sox left-hander has steadied himself this month.
With 6 2/3 scoreless innings in a 9-1 victory over the Phillies on Tuesday night at U.S. Cellular Field, Rodon lowered his ERA over four August starts to 1.46 in 24 2/3 innings. The Sox jumped on Phillies rookie Jake Thompson for seven runs in five innings, including back-to-back homers from Jose Abreu and Justin Morneau, to run away with it.
Rodon's recent stretch is reminiscent of the strong late-season run he went on last year, and it represents one promising story to watch as the Sox close out a turbulent season.
