White Sox notes: Reynaldo Lopez strong again in third spring start

PHOENIX -- Reynaldo Lopez was so sharp Friday afternoon against the Milwaukee Brewers, he became the first White Sox pitcher to throw more than four innings in a start this spring.

Lopez needed only 52 pitches (29 strikes) to cruise through 4 1/3 innings against the Brewers at Maryvale Baseball Park. There was only one hard-hit ball off him (a second inning Manny Pina single to left) and only one at-bat that got away from him (a fourth inning Ryan Braun walk), with those accounting for the lone baserunners allowed by the 23-year-old right-hander.

Lopez finished his afternoon with four strikeouts and induced a pair of popouts, too.
