One year ago today, the White Sox season already was over.
They were 18-38 on June 3, 2018, trailing the division-leading Indians by 11 games and 16½ games out of the second American League wild-card spot. The only thing Sox fans had left to look forward to was the arrival of Michael Kopech.
While the 6-1 homestand that ended Sunday didn’t put a dent in the Twins’ commanding 11-½ game lead in the AL Central, the Sox find themselves in the thick of the wild-card race as they head into a five-game trip to Washington and Kansas City.
