A year ago at this time, the White Sox were going through Phase 2 of the rebuild, trying to collect more top prospects in exchange for players they couldn’t deal over the winter.
Todd Frazier, David Robertson, Tommy Kahnle, Anthony Swarzak and Melky Cabrera were among the next batch of players on their way out of town, though the prospects the Sox received in return — Blake Rutherford, Tito Polo, Ian Clarkin, Ryan Cordell, A.J. Puckett and Andre Davis — weren’t quite in the same area code as the Yoan Moncadas, Michael Kopechs and Reynaldo Lopezes of their earlier deals.
