White Sox No. 3 prospect Michael Kopech will throw in a simulated game rather than pitch Sunday against the Rockies at Salt River Fields.
Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said he moved Kopech to a three-inning simulated game Tuesday with veteran pitcher Derek Holland so that he can do more focused work. Kopech allowed four earned runs on three hits and a walk in one inning in his first Cactus League start against the Mariners. He struck out two.
“We’ve got to get him stretched out,” Cooper said. “In a controlled setting like that, we can get specific work.
