Old friend Reynaldo López, fresh from surgery to correct both his eyes, started on the mound for the Knights, and like his new vision he was pretty sharp. López struck out eight and allowed only two runs in five innings. But the Charlotte offense had a rough evening, as did all the other White Sox affiliates. Between the offense’s bad night and a big eighth inning for Norfolk, the Tides managed to run away with this one.
The Knights struck first, as they wasted no time in the bottom of the first. Leadoff hitter Matt Reynolds hit a double, and Blake Rutherford immediately drove him in with a single.
